Oh hell card game strategy

The other thing I remember is the game was pretty long. I remember the playing sequence happened back and forth until someone had to draw a card, which I 'think' ended the turn (and someone got the tricks, and / or counted points). As noted, the game was played with (1) deck per player, so the stack of cards was pretty huge if you were playing with more than 3 players (sometimes so big you'd have to set part of it aside until you got to it). And, at the start, each player was dealt a whole gob of cards (almost more than you could hold), like 12-15 cards. From what I remember is was a 'trick' based game. The game she showed us was played with 1 deck per player, and it included all cards (including the Jokers), so (54) cards per deck. Here's the catch / difference from the games I've found called by that name: We used to play it all the time and it was a blast! Maybe I got the name wrong in my old age, but I'm nearly positive she called it 'Oh Shit!'. I've searched and searched books and internet on card games called 'Oh Shit!' and 'Oh Hell' (and other derivatives) and I can't find a game like the one she showed us. When I was a teen, my Mom had this elderly friend who taught me this playing card game which she called 'Oh Shit!' (except she wouldn't say the word 'Shit').
